Older (2009?)1911 Micro Compact 45 accuracy issues

I have a used 45acp 1911 micro compact ( serial #998xx

) that shoots very low and left. The front sight needs to be half way above the rear sight plane. Not sure if I should be concerned. I have adjusted windage but am considering a taller rear sight. What is the cut if the dovetail called? Could this be due to wear in the barrel/slide? Should I take this to an armorer? Thoughts or concerns? Are there replacement barrels/slides available?

Have you tried different brands of ammo, as for the sites get ahold of @xdman on here, he can help you out, as for parts, Springfield doesn’t sell gun parts. I doubt there is any amount of wear on your pistol
Ammo doesn't seem to make any difference. If you look closely at the pic you can see the barrel to slide geometry orients the barrel pointing low. It seems to be seating in the slide deeply at the rear. Thanks for the reply. As a shooter I really appreciate the steel frame and the stability it gives taming recoil. It is not my target pistol but kind of annoying the sights are so far off.

Lots of 1911’s appear that way, for it to have that kind of wear, there would have to be thousands of rounds through it. Going to throw some things at you, how do you hold the gun, do you jerk the trigger, (I still do this at times, I have been shooting 1911’s for 30+ years) these are not meant to tick you off or anything, just trying to eliminate things, also have you tried resting gun on a bench and see how it shoots?

Not offended at all, I've eliminated jerk and trigger input, bench resting and slow squeezing and letting the shot be a surprise. I've put hundreds of rounds through it. I've adjusted the windage and can be on target with the front sight poking up halfway over the rear sight box. A taller rear iron sight would fix this.

Have you owned this gun since new or did you buy it used? Has it shot off since you bought it or is it something that just started?

It was a used gun, My wife got it for a X-mas gift for me because I liked my fathers so much. If I google the type of gun I can find pics of my serial # gun as sold in at least 3 places. lol It had always shot like this.

Ok, get ahold of xdman here, he may be able to assist you in which sights fit your gun

Damn it has been forever since I have seen one of those. One of my kick my self in the butt for never buying one.
So those are Colt GI sights, the front is a tennon staked in front, not dovetail. The rear is a dove tail. Now the front is already short you probably can‘t go any lower, but the rear can definitely go higher.

That's a start for the info I will need. Where is a good place to look for rear "Colt GI" sights in a taller profile?

My father has one and After a day at the range I knew I needed one too. A micro compact in 45 seemed like it would be a handfull but the steel frame reduces recoil and is easy to control. While not my target gun it has a place as a. EDC.
