Very sad, or would anticipate it actually being a real grenade. I wonder if while pulling out items and rummaging around whether or not the pin could of been pulled or what happened there.

Grenade pins require some force to remove due to spring tension underneath, not like the movies.

Thats what you get when you mess with something you have no knowledge of. I would believe most everyone knows what a grenade looks like? I pretty sure that pin was bent back and had to be messed with to go off.

On my first security assignment one of the client employees had an inert Russian grenade sitting on his desk as a paperweight.

Another co-worker who didn't like him saw it (and probably knew exactly what it was) and reported it.

One of our security supervisors who had been EOD in the Army went up to the guy's desk located grenade, new it was and put duct tape on the spoon and brought it down to Ft. Carson EOD. They told him he was stupid for doing what he did.

The utilities employee was "allowed" to resign and collect his PERA.
