1 of my favs also! A friend of mine flew them in Vietnam. He piloted my grandmother's plane and co-piloted my dad's. He was an instructor for the Germans and on bombing runs they would release the external fuel tanks instead of the bombs. Germany at its finest? Tank release wasn't intentional.

Last time I saw F-4s flying was at an sirshow in 12. The Phantoms have a very unique sound with the 79's, as do the F-15s with their F100's.

At the show the bird was stripped down light and could still "turn & burn" fairly impressively.

Israel made made an improved version but it never went into production.

Up until early 2019 there was a TV show called "Fantomworks". It was based around a custom car shop run by Dan Short, a former test pilot with a lot of background in the Phantoms I believe. The show was based and filmed in Norfolk, Va and was reasonably popular. Dan often mentioned he wanted cars "squared away" as was the Phantom.
