I got lucky enough to find some .357 magnum rounds at my local range. They worked great and my revolver did some good shooting but it left my barrel and cylinder absolutely full of what looks like brass flakes. Has anyone else had that experience?

Any pics of the residue? I use PMC in my .45 and see something like this, but in my .357 I use there .38spl and never saw this. 🤔🤔
I already tossed my cleaning patches. It was a buildup of yellow-gold flakes. I'm a bit colorblind so copper and brass look about the same to me but I'm going to guess it was copper from the jacket. There was a substantial amount of it in the barrel. Weird to see it built up in the cylinders.

Once had some nickel plating come off some (older) Speer plated brass cases in .38 & 9mm’s, I wonder if PMC is using a brass or brass-like substance on their cases...or could they be using steel and inferior plating process (during these challenging times)...or is the bullet jacket plating flaking?

I think its marketing. The brass looks fine. Nothing flaking off.

I suspect it was unburnt powder residue...seen it before with budget loads like PMC.

Unless there's obvious damage to the cases, it wasn’t from them.

No, they aren’t. Nobody outside of the Russians/Combloc nations use “bimetal“ cases anymore.

Here's a good caliber chart for comparison:
