Marines are looking into polymer cased ammo for the .50 cal and expanding from there. Army is as well for even the 5.56 or new 6.8 ammo.
I think if it passes the military tests, I’d be up for it at a 25% weight savings.

but would the price be on par ?

Not throwing shade but also consider the recent sig fiasco.
It may be the way of the future but I’ll wait a bit.

Thanks for posting KF,
Interesting articles, achievements and concepts. Pro's and con's? Weight reduction at what actual cost savings if any?
Pretty cool advancements? Another form of non or slowly degrading non recyclable litter technology?

25% is case weight only, but doesn't help really. Bad for the ones who have to carry it. Not much freight savings either. Still interesting!

Breech loaders using brass cased ammo could have been supplied to the Union army during the Civil War, but the top brass in charge preferred muzzle loaders. Remember, Alvin York was brought up using a black power rifle, and until he was drafted for WW1 he hadn't shot a bolt action rifle. Us old timers are a stubborn bunch, but change is the only constant in the universe.
