possible new gun club in my future

Old_Me

SAINT
and this one, about 30 miles from my house, offers classes for its members, such as drawing from the holster, which i simply cannot practice at the other ranges or club i belong to. and other NRA classes like NRA instructor, which is one of my goals.

i will not even try to join until July, that way, i'll only pay half the membership fee.

if i were to join now.>??

of course that means full membership fee's, and i already lost 5 months now.

makes better sense to sit and wait till July

they have an indoor range, outdoor range, archery, trap shooting , hunting on thier property, something like 60 acres of land.

but i do not hunt, and don't wanna hunt.

only like $200 a year after the first time fee's and such.

downside is, i have to pass thru MA and back into RI to get there, and i gotta follow MA laws on transporting firearms.

PITA.

if i go a different way, it's like 1 hour drive.

i cannot do more that a 30 minute drive nowadays.

It’s not like you have to drive through Oklahoma. Sure, they’ve got reciprocity, but it’s Oklahoma. 😎

join net jets and fly to avoid MA and RI
it would be worth the lack of stress (y)

our range allows drawing from holster, provided you let the folks on either side of you along the firing line know whats going on as a courtesy.
no concealed carry or open carry from vehicle to firing line. all firearms must be unloaded until you set up on your spot and table
but they have no indoor parts or restrooms just the porta johns with wasps in summer
48 a year is a steal. we have concrete firing line with 50 spots and overhead cover. trap fields and one 200 yard rifle line

Luckily I've been a member of P.A.S.A. Park in Barry since 1985. Usually have the entire range to myself during the week. Heated club house with 2 bathrooms. Dozens of small ranges & a 600 yard rifle range. Years ago The Masters and all the big matches were held here.

I think you got Oklahoma confused with Nebraska or Arkansas.

Of course I only ever spend time in Oklahoma in the nations, where my family is. Muskogee is cool. Don’t really know about the rest of it. Toll roads suck. You got that going on it Texas though too.

The roads in OK suck. Arkansas are great. You can tell when you’ve driven out of Arkansas into OK by how bad the roads get. Roads are in pretty decent shape in TX. PA is the state to stay out of when it comes to roads.

Do their memberships only run on a calendar year basis (Jan 1 - Dec 31)? That would be a shame since they would lose potential members for more than half the year. Ask them if they’ll pro-rate the fees.

The ride down and back up ( I think ) 35 all the way south to RGV was horrible. Of course I was pulling a 35' x13' enclosed trailer and it was miles and miles of work zones.

Guess I am kind of lucky in a way, my range is a club, got 2 handgun ranges, rifle range and a NRA trap range, plus we got camping area, small lake. Only rules on the handgun ranges is no rifle rounds on steel targets, no range officers, your on your own, but most members follow the rules and I never saw it tore up in my 25 years of being a member

Yeah, I-35 does suck. It’s been under some form of construction since I moved to Texas 25 years ago.
I had a tractor trailer bounce his trailer off mine at 75MPH in 4 or 5 lanes of heavy traffic. He was on my right and some damn concrete barriers were about 3" away on the left. To make matters worse it was a rented truck and really was too small for the job. It was a big Ram 2500 with the Cummins diesel and it pulled ok I guess. I had sway bars on. It was still a little frustrating. My wife and sister in law were in a car and my brother in law and his step mom were in a 30' U-haul. Both trucks were rented in STL so I was solo all the way up and all the way back. Chain smoking like a bastid.
