a comment on this from a chat thread - The huge nugget in this action, and I mean HUGE NUGGET, is that the President of the United States has admitted that the US DOJ unfairly prosecutes citizens. Joe did that. He is on record as pardoning his son because the DOJ, his DOJ, unfairly prosecutes citizens. Trump's crew can take these statements and prosecute the current DOJ and say he's doing it to help vindicate Joe. This could be awesome if Trump takes advantage of this admission.

Well, I think it takes more than the president just claiming it is an official act. I also think the bullshit charges of trying to subvert an election are quite a bit different than wholesale bribery and money laundering.

Back to the topic though, the gun charge never should have happened. The FBI almost never prosecutes anyone for that particular crime. It is likely they charged him to save face, possibly knowing he would be pardoned, but either way he never should have been charged with it.

The DOJ prosecuted on the gun charge solely to distract attention from the laptop scandal. You note that investigation just sorta quietly went away after the gun charges were filled.
If you read the actual pardon statement, you note that it pardons Hunter for all crimes from January 1, 2014 through December 1, 2024. This covers the entire time that Hunter was doing all sorts of suspected illegal shenanigans while working in Ukraine. Some of the things he was accused of was political influence peddling and providing access to his then Vice-President father.
Truth is that Joe is covering his own ass! 🤬
