You guys didn't really think Trump was going to hand us a wish list of gun rights did you ? Even the SCOTUS isn't interested in actually righting the 2nd amendment with the originalist intent. Just in the last month they have refused to hear 2 cases that would have made ( or broke) important steps in that direction.
Like I said here before, we're just getting a brief respite in the major attacks against our 2nd amendment rights. If you noticed, the public at large outside of 2A advocates didn't get too upset about the Biden administration politicizing the ATF not just to go after pistol braces and "Ghost guns", but changing long standing "definitions" regarding FFL rules in a blatant attempt to put as many dealers out of business as possible. There were no widespread cries about Biden being a fascist dictator or circumventing the constitution. A lot of it is optics and the media. You see the supposed outrage over the recent actions by the white house. If you were to believe what you see or read in the news you would think the whole country is outraged when in fact, probably the same ( or less) amount of people are outraged as were outraged about pistol braces. Or were outraged about student loan forgiveness and unconstitutionally cannibalizing Title 9. Hell, until the election not a single one of the MSM or half the government would even admit that the majority of the people wanted something done about illegal immigration and the border. Biological men competing in women's sports and the border/immigration are both 80/20 issues. Yet we were all being told it was all a right wing conspiracy theory.
Even if the current administration instructs the DOJ and the ATF to revert to the previous definitions regarding braces and 80%ers and everything else, you would be insane to think the next anti gun president isn't going to trot all that stuff out again.
Ironically the one "Tool", for lack of a better term, that we do have currently that could shape opinions about the 2A in the future is the current unhinged madness surrounding recent actions by the current administration. A lot of these wack jobs are being incited by members of congress to take to the streets and "Fight" and "Take their country back". ( another example of one side doing all the things they spent the last 8 years accusing the other side of; being election deniers, trying to overthrow the democratic will of the people, inciting followers to violence, etc.".) I've seen significant evidence of a lot of these people bragging on line about arming themselves for the upcoming "Battle". I've even seen people on open forums threaten to assassinate the POTUS. Anyway, my point is that it seems a lot of people are actually seeing the point I have tried to make to them all along. Which is the idea of armed resistance to a tyrannical government isn't just for one side of the political spectrum. Some people are awakening to the fact that it's foolish to advocate for the government to disarm the populace because the pendulum swings both ways.
And we'd all do well to remember that even though Trump is supposed to be the candidate who wants to drain the swamp, he is the latest in a long line of politicians who made the same claims. There's only so much that can be done for one thing. These institutions have had centuries in most cases to entrench themselves and to be immune to the whims of incoming administrations and the citizenry. Elizabeth Warren said two days ago that there was no constitutional requirement for them to tell the American people how they are spending their money. That is the mindset of nearly every single elected official in this country and probably the world. Trump is no magic savior that is going to restore government for the people, by the people or rule by consent.
