Prodigy - Changing to Adjustable Rear Sight

Ronil

Alpha
hi, would like to seek advise on the following.
note: I am not into Red Dot yet (later when i am old where cant see the iron anymore). hehe
1. if i change the fix rear sight, will there be a milling works on the plate or slide to fit a adjustable rear site?
2. is there a 3rd party plate that first adjustable rear sight?
if some would be kind enough to share a photo where he already changed the rear sight to adjustable?

thanks.

A red dot on a Prodigy is a fantastic combination, whatever level your eyesight is. Don’t rule it out.

hi @xdman, hellcat rear sights are fixed (when i searched it). I am wondering if there are rear adjustable sights that may fit to the Prodigy? thanks in advance.
Just curious why you need adjustable sights on your Prodigy. I’m assuming to adjust elevation. Mine was fantastic with the stock sights.

hey buddy, would like to play it in standard division (hence need to remove the red dot). You are right, elevation varies so this is the main reason for me to have the adjustable rear sight. I normally change may heads and on my experience, heavier heads tends to be shooting high than the lighter heads, so adjustable rear sights will be a great help for me.
I practiced all with dead center sight picture, and i wouldnt like to re learn adjusting sight pictures on the fly based on distances. :)

@SimonRL I'm looking for adjustable sight too - because for me, I like my target bull to be at top edge of sight, not sight over bullseye. My prodigy sight sits on top of the target bull, unlike other pistols I use. Also, I don't like the height addition that red dot puts on the pistol so red dot not an option I want to use.

Makes sense. I’m the other way. I like the front sight covering the bull. I run a DPP on my Prodigy and the only time I really notice the height is when I’m looking at the gun from the side. I don’t find the plate sits it unduly high. Have you managed to find a sight? Have you been in touch with Dawson Precision? I imagine they can probably sort you out.

Dawson looks to have alot of options for XD and none for Prodigy. Kensight has option that looks good, but I need to talk to gunsmith before I buy. Springfield Armory has a custom shop option where they will install Bomar or LPA, but as desireable as the kensight. https://kensight.com/kensight-sprin...ar-w-0-200-tall-tritium-contoured-base-front/

DPP looks good. But I may not throw more $ after the prodigy. I'm also curious about the kimber kds9 which which in the hand, feels better (and lighter) that the prodigy, but I havent had shooting time on it yet.

@SimonRL For the DPP, what mount did you use? DeltaPoint Pro AOS Mounting Plate PH5077N-DPP-PLATE-RET
I assume it comes with the mounting screws that dont show in pics, or re-use the ones from the original sight plate? And did you get 2 or 6 moa dot?

There is a plate specifically for the DPP that I ordered from SA. I prefer the 2 moa dot. I believe I reused the screws that came with the Prodigy.
