Prodigy - Optic Plate issues/screws/coming loose - Fixed? non-Issue?? and Questions

Seriously looking at picking up a Prodigy 4.25" comp in a couple days.

I'm googling and seeing all kinds of different issues with the optic plate, wrong screws, etc. Some plates do not work with the OEM front sight, etc.

Seems for the most part vibra-tite VC 3 seems to be the way to go vs blue loctite.

My eyes are old and at this point I have made myself fairly dot dependent - i.e. if I spend the $ on a Prodigy, I'm putting a dot on it.

I will run a Holosun 507C.

(Not new to mounting dots on handgun - have done it successfully with directions and internet searches on Sigs, Walthers, Glock, FN, and TX22)

Here are my questions -
Which optic plate is the best? (least issues, and I have no interest in changing the front OEM sight)
Will i need to pick up different/additional screws vs screws that come with the plate and/or dot?
Is the plate coming loose every X number of rounds just something one has to accept with this model?

Is there anything I am missing or need to know about mounting and running a (non-Dragonfly) dot on a Prodigy?

thanks in advance -

I got help with this issue when I wanted to mount an optic on my Hellcat RDP from freedomgorilla as well. The advice was spot on.

The Echelon VIS system provided for a painless optic mounting experience. I used a 507K on that firearm.

You should not have a problem getting the right optics plate for your Prodigy based on your choice of optic.

Bottom line you’re going to have to buy a Prodigy and see if you have problems. I have a 5inch Prodigy with a Deltapoint Pro on it with the screws that came with the optic. I use the AOS plate and it has never come loose, no has the optic. Holosun is the optic that most often comes up in the conversation regard to screws but thats usually with the smaller K optics/EPS Carry/SCS. Ive never had a problem with a 507C.

I have the same 5" w/ DPP and AOS plate. I had an issue with the plate coming loose from the slide, but never the optic coming loose from the plate. Locktite the screws and a bit between plate and slide. Problem solved.

I have the 5" Prodigy, have had issues with AOS plate coming loose. See my multiple post on the

First Look: Springfield Armory Optics-Ready 1911 AOS Pistols

Hope this helps, albeit a sample of one.

Recently ordered a plate for a 1911 AOS 45 ACP for a Trijicon SRO. Was a little surprised it uses the same plate as the Prodigy. Called SA customer service asked the rep if I would have same screw problem as with the Prodigy. He assured me the screws will be correct. We'll see.

I have the same A14B AOS plate, the SRO optic stays rock solid on plate, I called Trijicon to purchase extra screws because I had reinstalled optic to plate several times and was concerned about that many installs with same screws. Evan with customer service said he was sorry about the issue I was having and sent me six new screws at no charge, I had them in hand in 5 days. screws are correct length as expected TRIJICON ROCKS!

How many screws come with the 1911DS/1911AOS plates? Reason I'm asking is do the plates come with screws to mount the RDS to the plate. In my case will be mounting a Trijicon SRO.

If i remember correctly two screws for plate to slide 6x48 x really short, I was working with new SRO that came with two sets of scews, i belive they are two 6x32x3/8 and two 6x32x1/2 for SRO to plate. The 6x32x3/8 worked perfect with no alteration. I am not in front of my notes right now but I believe that is correct. The screws that hold the stock Iron sight plate to slide on Prodigy also hold the optics plate to slide. Hope that helps...
