Prodigy optics plate stuck

I just received my SA Prodigy yesterday. I removed the two set screws to attach the new AOS plate, but it won’t come off. I checked the internet, YouTube and still can’t get it off. Any advice? Thanks in advance.

Heat the plate up gently with a flame or other device to help break it free. Had to go that with my Sig plate

By gently I mean flame farther away just to create a bit of warmth. Dont blow torch the thing . I just used the “flick it” for my charcoal grill

After warmed up, I used a rubber mallet and a plastic shim to dislodge the plate w some gentle taps and it popped off

That worked..a little hit and a few walks with the rubber mallet and it popped right off. Thanks!

I have the same problem on Prodigy 5". I have a pretty good heat gun with controllable temp from 80F to 900F.
I will try the heat method. Although it seems counter intuitive. Won't heating the plate make it enlarge and be stuck more firmly. Seems like the slide should be heated and the plate cooled.

Thanks,
Victor

I am having a hell of a time with this haha. I took out the 2 screws that it said, i've heated it multiple times and still can't get the damn thing off.

Are you hitting where the sights are or are you just hitting the plate? It seriously refuses to budge!

Thanks!

As you can see the way the plate attaches, it must go up in front pivoting at the rear sight. So I hit the rear sight with a rubber mallet with strikes parallel to the slide.
When I installed the RMR optic plate it also went on very tight and had to be hammered down. I'm sure it will need heat again to remove the plate I installed.

Finally got it. Thanks for the input vjsilva1.

I had to use a punch and give it a few taps in the screw holes (sideways, not into the threads themselves) to jar whatever was locking it up. finally gave way going parallel like you said (away from barrel).
