Pulled The Trigger On This

To me Backpack/Daypack’s are like holsters, you’re always looking for the next best/perfect one to complete your gear. After my lady took my backpack for her own use I’ve been looking around for a replacement.

I want to say I remember a thread on the forum about (StealthAngle) and looking around this morning I found this…..

I ordered mine in black, my favorite tactical color, it’s a 50L 4 bag pack setup. Sale price at $39.99 A deal I couldn’t pass up.

Nice. What is the total height ? I have been searching for something, albeit smaller, to house a 10.5" pistol discreetly. It blows my mind that it's this difficult to find a smallish sling/pack that's at least 27" tall.

That looks pretty handy, Keystone. These days, I don’t have much need for a pack like that. Back in my college days, I rode a bike to school pretty regularly and bought an Army surplus backpack that I still have. I have a lot of my hunting stuff squirreled away in it.

They're a bit spendy, but Vertex offers the Commuter Sling XL 2.0.
Might be able to find a Black Friday deal on one.

I’m kind of a backpack pack rat. I have to try nard not to buy backpacks just cause. Picked this one up a couple of weeks ago “on sale” for $69 - which in my opinion is what it should have retailed for, but apparently a couple of rubberized 5.11 labels are worth another $69! I like the look of this thing because it’s not too tactical looking, but the jury is out on how practical it is. Got mine in Tungsten.

I visit a nearby indoor range, the safety and noise provisions for the range, in combination with my habit of bringing several pistols to shoot during a session, precludes multiple pelican boxes and ammo cans. I'm also in a state that bans transporting firearms with the ammo in the same container.

I got this;

To protect and hold the pistols even better, I got two of these.

Two fit firmly in the bag, perhaps a third can be fitting inside it.

So as a follow up to the purchase of the
(Stealth Angel) backpack/daypack.

I received it yesterday and although it’s still early to give a complete review I do know I’ve got some work to do to get it to look even close to the picture of the pack in my original post. Now I’ll admit that I didn’t expect to pull it out of the box looking like that original picture. What I did get was the pack that was folded in half and stuffed into the box.

After spending about 45 minutes last night adjusting and stretching the pack out it looks like this…….

A far cry from the advertised picture.
Now let me say I understand that the original advertised picture definitely shows a pack stuffed with something to show it optimal shape and at this point I’m guessing I can get it looking better than it currently does the reason for this post is to get some ideas on how to proceed.
Being a pack made from a nylon material my and right now only first thought is to separate the individual packs, there are (4) and fill them with something and then using a hair dryer on low-medium heat warm up the material to eliminate the folds from shipping and give each a full shape. And although the zippers are ok what can I use to help them work better.
I’m thinking a light coating of Vaseline.
Any and all suggestions are welcome.

You can stuff the pack with newspapers or perhaps an old pillow to get rid of the wrinkles and I usually use a drop of cooking oil or gun lubrication on new zippers. Seems to work for me at least. Just my two cents....

Still, for $40, it looks like a heck of deal.

I should point out, my posted shoulder bag, while cheaper, is much smaller. It also came the same you describe for your pack.

I have heard the best lubricant for zippers is bee's wax. You can find it at the hardware store. But I can't say I've done much zipper preventative maintenance. I have used bee's wax on furniture drawers, and it does work much better than soap or candle wax.

Putting the bag stuffed with a pillow in the drier on low might do wonders to get out wrinkles. If you don't want it tumbled in the drier, check out this tip for drying shoes in the dryer, I haven't tried this yet, but plan to the next time I dry shoes.
