Q. what is this spring in my hellcat pro? (picture)

Good morning,

Lost one of my screws off of my stock optic plate on my Hellcat Pro. I got two new screws, and ready to go in but then I noticed one of the holes, the one the old screw fell out of has a spring in it. Can't figure out how that got in there and what it's for. Anyone got any ideas? Can't get my screw in till I figure this out. Thanks in advance.

Ahh thanks... didn't think of that. Never found the screw maybe the head broke off or it's the whole screw jammed in there. Now to figure out HOW to get that out.

Personally I’d take it to a gunsmith or have SA look at it. It should be covered by warranty.

That looks like a spring to me, can you get a better close up of it? If that’s a spring it’s part that’s supposed to be there, before you try and dig it out get a better pic and get ahold of Xdman, if it’s supposed to be there and you try getting it out you may damage whatever it is and possibly void the warranty, just get ahold of Xdman

I’d still have professional look at it. It might be a screw or spring but I don’t do this for a living. Plus I had an optic failure do to my stupid ways.

Well, the weapon runs fine... I would think it wouldn't extract if the extractor spring broke free. And when I flip over the upper, I see the extraction spring where it belongs. As close as I can get with my phone. I'll have to bring it and show it to an armorer in person and get an opinion. Thanks for the replies.

the spring is not broken, it's in its chamber where it belongs.

Yea, that’s the channel it rides in, nothing is broken

Extractor spring. It is removable through the slide's back plate.

yes. you might want to properly "torque" it down

torque screwdriver sets are not that expensive.

hopefully others hre like maybe @Bassbob ?? can be of some help, i do believe he has done the torquing of a plate in the past.

Thanks... OK. I got the tools. I just didn't know if that was the screw thread I lost or if a spring. Like I said, gun works fine. Been without that screw for 6 months. Just finally got off of my lazy ass to get new screws for it.

Just make sure the new screw isn't too long and binds on the spring

Yes, just make sure you use the proper length screw.
