QD sling mounts/Swivels.

I have these on every long gun I own. Either BCA or Magpul. But I am looking at a bunch of them on Amazon, most no doubt made in China, and I am curious if anyone has any cheaper sets on any of their stuff and what their thoughts are. Really what it is is I am considering putting a cheaper set on an old shotgun I have and while I know everyone is going to say " Just get the Magpuls and quit whining", in my mind I am kinda thinking for the kind of limited, home use I have in mind, these cheap ones may be just fine. Does anyone have any experience with any of them and maybe know which cheap ass junky ones I should especially avoid ?

The cheap QD mounts typically have weak springs which can cause the QD to come unconnected or you may even lose a bearing from bad tolerances. Also these cheaper parts may be made with an inferior steel resulting in premature rusting.

I just let a couple of my long guns share slings as I cannot use them all at the same time.
I typically have a sling for each long gun, though most of them are BFG Padded Vickers with QD swivels.

The situation I am referring to is for a gun that doesn't have a QD mount. Those mounts range from $3 to $35 and even higher.

Remember when Made in Japan was the unaccepted?

Never had a China cheap QD fail but I find the metal inferior, whether it’s rust, black oxide finish wearing off and forget about the cheap webbing not fraying…and that was on a tool belt.
China stuff made to specification by a major brand is built much better.

Taiwan supplier market maybe stuff is a bit better, but for how long.

Yeah I do. Now it turns out Japan is the best of the Asian countries with S. Korea coming in second. In some cases Japan is superior to the US. They make damn fine guitars. Like the US their (Japan) cheap line of guitars are made in China. Lol.

Chinese steel is recycled garbage. I once bought some rotors for my truck at Auto junk. Pulled it out of the box and while the face was smooth you could clearly see about a 1/2” X4” bolt and nut just under the surface. Lol.

I've had a cheap QD mount fail recently from a brand new sling. The mounts failed on each end of the sling with what I suspect were cheap springs and bad tolerance issues.

Yeah. Like you all said in the first place. It’s not really something you should cheap out on.
