Question for Prodigy owners

RLB

I know some have had problems with their new Prodigys while many have been relatively perfect from the beginning.
Personally my Prodigy was extremely tight when new to where sometimes the slide would hang up, mostly on the disconnector. All I've really done to mine was to lightly polish the disconnector and the radiused edge where the slide first contacts it, and run a couple of hundred snap caps through it and cycled the slide a bunch. I have had no malfunctions of any kind with 420 perfect rounds so far.
The slide operates as slick as can be with just an occasional slight bump when the slide contacts the disconnector.
My question is this. Now that your Prodigy is becoming broken in have you noticed that the slide has more felt looseness in it if you take it and rock from side to side?
When mine was new it was so tight that I really didn't notice any looseness...maybe just a very small amount at the rear. Now I've noticed that if I rock the slide from side to side I can feel and even see a small amount of movement.
I guess this reflects the fact that the pistol is loosening up as it breaks in, but just how much wiggle is normal?
I've noticed that on some other pistols that I have some have some play while others still feel tight. So I thought it might be interesting to see how other Prodigy owners fare. Has anyone noticed a difference in slide looseness that you can actually feel?
The only reason I'm bringing this up is because this is the first time I've noticed this kind of difference between new and after a few hundred rounds. Anyone else notice this with their Prodigy?

My RO Operator did the same thing on the disconnector, I just left it alone and shot it, it did loosen up after time, the disconnector spring is real stiff

About 600 rounds through mine, tight and feels like it's broken in pretty well, I wish I could say the same for some of the 17 round mags!

Full disclosure I don’t own a Prodigy and in no way will say I’m an expert, that being said I’ve owned 3 1911’s and owned multiple striker fired handguns over the years and one thing I’ve noticed is there is a difference in the play between the slide and frame when the gun is loaded with a full magazine and empty. Since you don’t mention when you notice the significant play
(ie) gun loaded or empty could the gun empty without the upward pressure of a full mag be allowing the slide to rock side to side?
Just a thought and observation.

Still have questions contact Springfield Armory, they are your best resource.

You're right of course. A full magazine will affect the play between the slide and frame simply because of the pressure a loaded magazine puts on the slide. When checking the looseness with a loaded magazine in place, the play is negligible. Naturally, unloaded there is more discernable play.

I'm not saying that my slide is excessively loose, but it does seemed to have loosened up a bit from when it was new. I'm guessing that this is normal as the gun wears in and was just asking if anyone else has noticed a difference. I know some of the reviews of early Prodigys reported that they felt that Cerekote overspray had found its way to the frame or slide channels and was causing an overtight condition and a dragging slide. After this overspray wore down the slide action was smoother and more free.

I'm not really concerned, but I will be watching it to see if it changes as I shoot more rounds through it.
