Questions about my XDME

Wyoguy

Alpha
I have a new to me SA XDM Elite in 9mm. It is my first gun in 30 years after all my family guns were lost in a fire. I live in Wyoming so there are no restrictions on me here for gun ownership but as i plan to get a CC permit I have to be worried about the other states in which I travel with limited capacity mags.

My 9mm is the 4.5" model with I believe 19round magazines. Do normal XD mags fit my gun? Are there 9mm mags available or can I put a temporarty block into my mags to cover my legality when passing through Colorado, California and Washington?

Welcome to the forum!

Be careful about using mag block limiters in states with limited capacity laws as each state will have its own legal definition of what is acceptable for limited capacity.

Example: In Massachusetts all mags that were designed to hold more than 10 rounds need to be pinned and welded at a maximum 10 round capacity to be considered legal in that state. Mag block limiters are not considered acceptable in Massachusetts and all mags would need to be permanently fixed to be in compliance with the only exception to have a higher capacity being the mags are Preban, you are law enforcement, or a criminal.

I would look into the laws in the states that you may potentially travel to or you could try contacting the state police in that state for clarification before traveling.

Sorry to hear about your family gun collection...☹️

No, regular XD 9mm mags won’t fit, but the XDm 9mm I think will fit, they are 19 round mags. I don’t think anybody makes temporary blocks for those mags, plus that still won’t make the mags legal, if the state says 10 round mags, then you have to get just 10 round mags, I’m not sure on this as I may be wrong, but that’s the way I understood it back when they had the old high capicity mag ban years ago.

One of my primary visits would be California but it looks as though Cal got greedy and took away the grandfather clause and got sued, and lost so the high capacity mag law is no longer valid. Still I got CO and WA to worry about. I still also need my CCL before I travel.

So these should work?
