Racking my new Hellcat

I am fairly new to handguns, and just purchased my Springfield Hellcat. I have spent the past couple of days getting familiar with the gun, and have NOT gone to the range yet to fire it.

I have been struggling a bit with racking the pistol, and was curios if anyone has any suggestions regarding technique that has worked for them.

I have searched and viewed some videos, but there were not necessarily specific to the Hellcat.

Thank you for your time . . .

Assuming you're right handed, take your left hand and grab the slide tightly, with your entire hand. Then take the back of the grip and wrap your right hand around it like you would if you were shooting. Then rather than pulling the slide back with your left hand, push the frame forward with your right hand.

Properly & safely unloaded, field strip it, clean it, lube it & shoot it. Slide will loosen up with use

In addition to the above, go after it like you mean it. Don't go gradually, give it all you've got until you get used to it.
Having the pistol closer to you increases the leverage you have and that will make it easier.

Once the slide is fully to rear, let it go like it's 2000 degrees hot. If you hang on to slide as it goes forward you increase the chance of a malfunction as you are holding back the spring that is pushing the slide forward.

If you want to lock the slide back, put in an empty magazine and run the slide. The empty magazine will active the slide lock for you. As your strength and familiarity grows, transition to doing it without the empty magazine.

Lastly, don't feel bad. The little pistols are the ones that are typically the greatest to rack.
