Range Day

I took my S&W 1911 to the indoor Range today. I’ve always used the Wilson Combat magazines and never had a problem. I had some Wilson Combat Lo-Profile magazines I must of bought a while ago and they worked fine also. I tried out the New Republic Ammo I bought and found it made the firearm real dirty. Not sure if I want to use this ammo or S&B at The Gunsite Academy. I find my Kimber prefers Kimber magazines. This will be my backup if the primary goes down during training. What magazines do you use for your 1911?

That's some good shootin' at a nice range.

I've got a SA Garrison 1911 in .45 and I'm really getting to like it. I shoot it maybe 50 rounds a week, but not every week. So my accuracy is slowly improving. It came with three 7-round factory magazines and I purchased two 10-round magazines by Chip McCormick (CM Products) from Midway. I haven't had any problems with the CMC or factory magazines. I plan on picking up a couple of the CMC 8-round magazines too.

I've been getting my .45ACP ammo from LAXammo.com, their house brand, for quite a while now. It's a good price. I try to pounce when they have a $3.99 special on shipping. They have a $7 shipping deal going on for Veteran's Day. It seems clean and accurate enough for this old noob but I tend to clean my pistols after about 300 rounds.

Have a great time at Gunsite. I always wanted to visit the Front Site Academy (now Prairie Fire) near Las Vegas before I moved halfway across the country. I'll have to find another site for a rip-roaring multi-day training session. Please let us know how your Gunsite visit goes. I'd love to hear about it.

Kimber mags are Mec Gar.

I wouldn't shoot any "new" ammo. Stick with what you know runs in the guns.

not knowing your Kimber, i have the Custom II, and i use W/C in mine....

I use Wilson Combat mags and Cobra mags in my Dan Wesson Specialist and Wilson CQB and never had any issues. My LGS guy shoots competition and swears by Cobra mags hence why I bought a bunch. Just my two cents...
