Hello friends,
Yes, another lousy day at the range for this old noob. This was my last hurrah before Mrs. BassCliff gets home so I was just blasting away and having fun. But I concentrated on a few targets and it showed. I was planning to go to the newer facility but I got a last start today. Hence the quick trip to the closer/older facility. My favorite lane was open.
I'd brought 50 rounds of 124 grain S&B along with 50 rounds of Winchester NATO for the VP9 and XD9. The LAX Ammo was for the XD45.
You know what's kind of funny? If you remember, I left a couple of rows of masking tape bits on the bay wall last Friday. I guess a few were used by other shooters because there were only a couple of pieces left.
I ripped about 40 more pieces to use on ten targets and stuck them back on the wall. There were a couple of other lanes going so I couldn't run a timer. I just shot the first 10 hits with my VP9 as if I was doing a 10-10-10 drill. It wasn't pretty.
For my next B-8 I shot at a more reasonable pace, about 2 seconds between shots. Much better.
I picked up the pace for the next string. As you can tell the accuracy suffered.
For target #4 I slowed down just a little and the 10-shot group got tighter.
Now that I was warmed up I tried to pick up the pace again. This string left me with one hit out of the black.
Now I thought I'd show off using one of my 12x18 reactive silhouettes. But I was not too impressive.
I thought I could do better so I patched it up and tried again. I can't tell, maybe it's a little better.
I wanted to compare that with my EDC so I patched it up again and came out blasting with my XD9.
Well, drat. I knew I could do better than that. I tried again.
I still had a couple lower and lefter than I like but at least all the hits are inside the 8" circle. Let's move on and shoot 50 rounds of .45ACP, going back to the B-8 targets.
We'll the first one is not impressive at all. I think I'm having too much fun. Either that or the opening 10-10-10 drill has ruined me for the entire session. Let's see what target #2 looks like.
Oh! Ick! YUCK! OK, it's time for me to settle down and get somewhat serious. Here's target #3.
That's a little better, back to my usual mediocrity. I'm going to really try and be impressive on this next target. I know I can shoot better than this.
OK, good enough for a glam shot. Nine hits in the 10 ring is pretty good for me. I'm trying to make that consistent. For my last string let's patch up the 12x18 reactive silhouette and see how impressive I can be.
Hmm, not that impressive. Two hits outside, low/left of the 8" circle. I've been going at it hard and heavy for this last couple of weeks that the Mrs. has been out of town. I think I'm going to take a little break, at least a week, before venturing to the range again. I'll do some dry fire practice at home and review all the fundamentals. This was my eighth day at the range in the last two weeks. I think I was really sloppy today. Yeah, it might've been a waste but it was still fun. I hope you can forgive me. Next time I'll be back with something,... uh, yeah, something.
Thank you for your indulgence,
BassCliff
