Greetings friends,
Let's see if the laser dry fire practice I did last night will carry over to live fire practice today. (I really need to do more dry fire practice.) I stopped by the Fletcher Arms range closer to my house to shoot only 101 rounds. I didn't want to overdo it today. I was assigned Lane #10, my favorite lane!
I brought my usual XD9, CW9, and P22. I did not shoot any silhouettes today, only B-8 and 8" reactive targets. All but one target was at 10 yards.
Since the range was quiet I decided to shoot a cold 10-10-10 drill first. I'll show the video too. The way that Larry Vickers scores "The Test", I think I passed today.
I know, two out of the black for a two second penalty. That still keeps me under par time with a score of 93. Maybe? Here's the video along with the last B-8 of the day, the only other one that was timed.
Targets #2 through #5 were slow fire. Hey! Look at #2!
Drat. I let one out on the 8 ring in #3.
OK, for #4 I must be getting cocky, and sloppy. I'd better settle down.
For #5 I tried to settle down but I still got one out of the black.
You've seen #6 already, another timed 10-10-10 drill. This would've been a passing score but the two hits out of the black put me just over the par time when you add the two second penalty. Drat.
Then I pasted on an 8" Splatterburst target and sent it out to 25 yards just for grins and giggles.
Wow, I really stink at this distance. Perhaps I'll practice more of this.
Then I filled up the four magazines for the CW9 to practice a bit, three 8 rounders and one 7 round. I got a little better with each magazine.
See? I missed a little closer this time.
There's only one off the target (high) if you'll give me the one that just grazed the edge (arrow).
With the seven round magazine I still managed to miss the target three times.
Then I shot 50 rounds with my P22, adjusting the rear sight after every magazine. I think I've just about got it dialed in.
Two magazines on this one.
I also practiced using my dual mag carrier. It takes a little extra effort when your carriers are concealed under your shirt. But I'm getting there.
And that was my fun for today. I think I noticed a little bit of improvement over last week. I'm sure the dry fire laser practice helped. I'll do more of that, and then try to remember (sight picture and trigger pull) when I go live again. Thanks for coming along. Feel free to let me know how I can improve. Sometimes I just feel like giving up. Then I figure, what's the use?
Thank you for your indulgence,
BassCliff
