Good evening folks,
I just wanted to share my fun today. I hope you don't mind. Wednesday is my usual practice day so I headed out to the newer Fletcher Arms facility in Lake Country. I did not use my timer today. Today was for pure marksmanship. (Ha!) I wanted to run the Dot Torture Drill so I requested a lane from which I could draw. I was assigned lane #6. It's my favorite lane!
I was going to start with the Dot Torture Drill but, on second thought, why not put some holes in the B-8 first? I ran it out to ten yards for some slow fire marksmanship. It came back like this.
Hey! That doesn't look too bad. How about a closer look?
If you give me the line breaks, that's nine shots in the 10 ring. They're all just a smidge left. Maybe still too much trigger finger?
Then I taped on my Dot Torture Drill target, sent it out to five yards, and put five shots on dot #1. Meh. You'd think I couldn't count. Only two hits in the circle.
For dot #2; draw, one shot (x5). Again, only two hits inside the circle.
Draw, 1 on 3, 1 on 4 (x4). I always seem to shoot the dot on the right better. There a lot of low left on dot #3.
Draw, 5 shots strong hand. Wow, do I suck today.
Draw, 2 on 6, 2 on 7 (x4). Most of these hits were somewhere in the vicinity.
Dot #8: Low ready, five shots weak hand. Wow! I still stink. Only two hits in the circle.
For dots 9 and 10: Draw, 1 on 9, speed reload, 1 on 10 (x3). Practicing reloads is fun. Too bad I couldn't hit anything.
OK, that's 50 rounds with not a lot to show for it. Let's shoot some more B-8 targets. I told the friendly touch control to sent it back out to ten yards.
B-8 #2. If you give me the line breaks there are eight hits in the 10 ring.
Let's see if I can do better. Nope! Just to opposite. The group is starting to spread and I let one get out into the 8 ring.
OK, let's settle down and focus. The is what B-8 #4 looked like. Drat! Four hits out of the black.
B-8 #5 shows six hits in the 10 ring and four more hits out of the black. Maybe I'm getting tired.
Let's try one more. I'll try to redeem myself. Nope. I'm a lost cause for today.
Oh man! Now I have as many hits out of the black as I have in. I'm going to give it up for the day. I shot 100+ rounds with my XD9. I'm not even going to shoot my P22 today. I guess I felt a little better when I looked at my B-8 "target holder".
Still, not my best effort today. I've shot better. But it was not to be this afternoon. I hope your range trips this week are more productive. I guess I felt a little off today and it showed. Thanks for coming along. Sorry to disappoint. I'll do better next time.
Thank you for your indulgence,
BassCliff
