Hi guys!
I wanted to squeeze in one more range trip before Mrs. BassCliff comes home. Today after church I had lunch with the kids and grandkids, ran home to get my kit, then zipped over to the range. They close early on Sunday so I basically did 15 mag dumps between two 9mm and two .45ACP pistols. Again, all 10-shot strings at 10 yards using 100 rounds of 9mm (Blazer and S&B 124 grain) and 50 rounds of .45 (LAX Ammo 230 grain). I had lots of flyers but I could tell when I was doing stuff right, even blazing through my mag dumps.
It was pretty busy at the older facility today. I guess the rainy weather encourages folks to enjoy inside activities.
Lane #1, my favorite, was occupied so I secured my second favorite lane, #10.
I just brought the targets the I had left in the back seat of my truck, the B-27 silhouette and a couple of 12x18 reactive silhouettes that I'll need to patch up before I use them. I brought all my dirty guns today in order to get them real dirty before I clean them up tonight.
(L-R) VP9, XD45 Mod.2Tactical, Garrison 1911, XDM Elite Precision. No malfunctions today, in fact we've been malfunction free for the last couple of week's worth of range trips. Cool.
I've been starting my sessions with a .45 but today I started with the 9s, VP9 first then the XDM. None of these targets are noteworthy other than to say there might be fewer flyers than hits near the bullseye.
All but a couple inside the 4" circle.
I just kept patching up this target and sending it downrange. I stuck on a few extra red circles so I could see the bullseye better.
I ended up knocking off the red stickers when I hit the bullseye a few times.
I patched it up one more time and wailed away at it with my XDM. I tried a little harder on the head shots using the last magazine of 9mm. You see ten hits in the red circle.
OK, that's 100 rounds of 9mm. We're moving on to the .45. I turned the large silhouette around for the white background and stuck on some 4" bullseyes. @SimonRL suggested this "aim small, miss small" exercise. The left targets received love from the XD45 and the right targets from the 1911.
Well, that's not too shabby for me except for that last target with the 1911. Aiming "down" at that target seemed to pull everything low. I've got 10 rounds of .45 left. Let me try one more time with the 1911. I'll patch this up as best I can and stick on another bullseye closer to the middle.
If you give me the line break I see four hits just outside the bullseye and five hits in that ragged hole on the bullseye. Perhaps a little more practice with my 1911 is in order. (Duh!)
Well, since I had such lousy luck today I thought, why not? Let's buy some raffle tickets! I bought a $20 ticket for this PSA-15.
I also bought a ticket for this Python. This would be kinda sweet. I don't have a big revolver.
So wish me luck. Last month I won a WASR-10 (AK-47 platform). Lightening can strike twice in the same place, right?
Now the fun is over. I'll pick up Mrs. BassCliff at the airport on Wednesday. I'll be back to one practice session a week for the most part. Are you going to miss me? I didn't think so.
Thanks for hanging out. I hope you all enjoy a week's full of blessings.
Thank you for your indulgence,
BassCliff
