Range Time At SPB

I have had a busy two days off but I promised myself that I would get in some range time today, I kept that promise and took my new 1911 45ACP Emissary and my XDM 10mm compact, I had until today shot only FMJ Ball Ammo through both and wanted to run some hollow point through both guns to see if there would be any issues.
I started with my 1911 Emissary, I had a magazine with some FMJ so I shot that first. Not to shabby!! 😎

I wanted to check the new mags I just got so I brought all 4 with me and loaded all 4 with Winchester 180G JHP
32 rounds later I was smiling ear to ear, I love this gun.

Two a little high and one low but all center mass. 😁

Next was my XDM 10mm I had already proved out the 4 mags I have for the 10mm so I only brought 2 loaded with Hornady 176 grain Flexlock Hollow Point, first 6 shots were right on point.

Following those first six I practiced bringing the gun up from the bench to acquire the red dot and fire, I will say I had some low shots but no major fliers off the splatter target.

All in all a very good day.

Fantastic !!!
Very nicely done 👍

About to head to The Range myself…

Fyi.. its “The Range” now with SPB name change 😜😉
Nice shooting there goose!
Thanks guys I will take very little credit when it comes to the Emissary, that gun is such a smooth shooter. Almost no recoil, it goes bang and a hole appears where I was pointing it. 😊

It’s also comforting that I’ve proven out both guns with Hollow Points.
And all 4 mags for the Emissary are now loaded with Federal Premium 230Gr Tactical HST And 2 of the four mags for my XDM 10mm are filled with Hornady Critical Duty 176Gr FlexLock.
I’m ready.

Look at all that money on the floor! Did Heaven's gate open up!

Hi @Keystone19250 ,

Yay! Very good marksmanship! I have not vetted any of my SD ammo lately. Thanks for the reminder.

I also like using the "shoot-n-see" targets but I've been obsessing with B-8 targets lately. I can print those up for pennies all day long.

I also can't wait to add a 1911 to my little arsenal. Last year my instructor brought one to class for me to try out, an SA model in 9mm, Ronin, IIRC. I was amazed how accurate it was. It made me think I could hit something! :ROFLMAO: The longer (5") barrel, sight radius, and heft of the weapon made it easier for me to get rounds on the bullseye. Pretty cool.

Curious, is that "10" ring about a 3 inch circle? I've got some practicing to do before I can get my groups that tight. Hey, thanks for sharing your fun!

Thank you for your indulgence,

BassCliff

Sorry those were some older targets I had kicking around and I honestly don’t get into target size. I think that 10 ring is bigger then 3” but I could be wrong.

Great shooting, Key! What distance was that at? Those 10mm holes look rather large. It’s always going to be Shoot Point Blank to me. I just can’t get myself to say Range USA - I keep visualizing the marketing wonks pitching why Range USA will resonate with the public so much better.

That was around 30-40 feet and I didn’t even take note of the name change, I drove into the parking lot and didn’t even look up at the signage. Makes no difference to me in fact $10 for 30 minutes was a plus. It’s close to my apartment and beats burning up a half a tank of gas going to the outdoor range.
