Toby Keith was ignored by the boring-self absorbed-traditional county music awards shows. No awards and no recognition for his contributions. His songs were both patriotic and fun. If you get a chance to watch his recorded concerts, do it. The fans loved him.

It's sad that only after his death he finally gets accolades. I have a collection of all his CDs, worth more to me now than before.

He was literally on the opposite side of OKC from Garth Brooks. Brooks in Yukon and Keith in Moore. TK has some great music and as many other musicians made after 9/11.

I drove (alone) from Winnipeg, Canada to my mom and stepdad's home in San Antonio back in May 2013. Almost all the way down to TX, and all the way back to Winnipeg...Toby Keith. He got me through a really nasty piece of OKC, and then through Austin at rush hour. Right before I was to head back north, Moore, OK was hit with an EF4 (I think..). Anyway, I drove through there on my way back...interstate traffic was doing between 5 and 10 MPH. Unbelievable.

Anyway, that man sung me through a lot of pretty mean stuff. God rest his soul
