From what I’ve read this is only no more sales or manufacturing of them, I’ve read nothing about confiscation.

There's some belief that the sudden passage of the "assault weapon" ban is essentially virtue signaling to their nutcase base to win support in the coming elections. It is presumed to be tough sledding in the Senate due to the filibuster. Expect an assault on the filibuster in the near future.

Don't think they will stop here should they manage an end-around the Constitution. It is clear they consider ALL semi-automatic firearms in the same light, and don't think passing laws to ban all types of them is beyond the realm of possibility.
