Revolvers and semi-automatic handguns are vastly different types of firearms, although they overlap in many capacities. Both can be used for target shooting or personal defense, but you need to know a few things first

I first started out shooting revolvers, my dad had an S&W model 15, great shooter. For the first years when I got into guns, I always bought and shot revolvers. Then after a few years I got into semi autos, for the past 20 years I used pistols, good article again there Talyn, thanks for posting.

I like revolvers, but the limited capacity and longer reloading time (at least for me) means I have to accept those limits. I know revolvers can fail, but in my thinking they are much less likely to fail than a semi-suto.

Revolvers and Semi’s have gone to several World Wars and other conflicts.
both have their merits and short comings.
A semi just wont have the your pants visual a .44 Mag will

I tend to like most types of firearms and have been blessed to be able to afford multiple guns. I own revolvers and semi-autos. I love to shoot revolvers, but I generally carry semi-autos. I will slip a J-frame with a concealed hammer in my outer jacket pocket on the rare days when it's cold enough to need multiple clothing layers, but I will still have a semi-auto on my belt.

I'm kind of an engineering nerd, so I appreciate the design and appearance aspects of revolvers. While I don't generally carry my revolvers, I would not feel under-armed with a revolver on my belt.

My best friend used to be LE, and he told me most criminals, at least the smart ones, still prefer revolvers, because they leave behind less evidence. It's also much harder to match a spent shell to a revolver than a semi auto.
