Last night I field striped my new RIA 1911-A1 FS Tact II 10mm. I broken it down and everything was okay till I tried to put the take down pin back in. This morning I took it to a Gunsmith and he had a problem putting the pin back too. He did get it done and it work just fine now. I won't try to clean it again, I will take it to my gunsmith next time. Have anyone else had that problem with their RIA 1911-A1 FS Tact II 10mm? It is a real headache for sure I couldn't sleep last night.

1911s have to be kept to tight tolerances to handle the 10mm.

Colt had headaches back-in-the-day figuring out how to make it work, with cracked frames.

The slide stops take alot of punishment handling the 10mm so RIA made it tight & specific fit.

Why not increase the spring pressure or make a heavier slide to reduce punishment for full/high power loads?

The RIA 10mm with the writing on the slide isn't my pistol, the other one is. I'm showing these picture so you can see the difference in the slide stop alignment position on each pistol. The two align position on the top one you can see clearly. The other pistol you can see one clearly and the other one you can't.

The more I thought about the way the notch is, maybe under recoil the slide stop might have been moving, like trying to come out, and they did it that way to stop the movement of the stop, just a thought, or maybe I just had to much coffee this morning......😬
