One of today’s mods Ring dashcam. Set up was easy especially if you already have a ring account. LTE pricing is going to be 6.00 a month but this is still so new everyone is still in the trail period. Features and usage are basically the same as like the Owl dashcams just way cheaper. And ring is such a larger company that support should be there in the future. Who wants to bet what crazy stuff I will catch first? Car crash, bum fight, zombies…

I have always said if you do not have a dash cam, GET ONE! Even if it is a cheap 29.99 special. Just like a firearm, any gun is better than no gun. They are cheap enough that a dashcam is a go to gift for friends who do not have one. If you catch just one time that you were not at fault, the camera paid for it self in spades. This one is kind of expensive at 200.00 but it is LTE capable and integrates with my current ring account.

Anyone caught any crazy stuff on their cameras?

I wish they would make a body camera, that’s important in today’s day and age. Anyone have a good body camera they have experience with?

Where’s the doorbell??? 😬😬😬😬

Agree a dash cam is good if a problem arises but generally its going to be something that needs to be downloaded and reviewable on the spot if avoidance of a traffic citation is involved. An insurance company will need footage whereas a prosecutor may want the entire device.

The gooseneck Nest looks distracting.…hence in some jurisdictions that may be considered a violation of “Clear and Unobstructed View”. I’d prefer something a bit more discreet. Is that Nest cam detachable or a permanent type fixture?

I had my YJ’s doors stolen in the middle of the night, not only did thieves unscrew the driveway light bulbs, disabled the interior light alarm activation via stealing the auto dim rear view mirror too, a common location for dash cams.
Infuriating is have memorialized footage of thieves taking your stuff and likely even if caught red handed, getting off without paying a dime for damages.

I have (2) GoPro’s setup in the front windshield, 1 is in the upper left corner the other just right of the rear view mirror. Both are powered by cables run up through the trim and they are set to record for an hour then over right and start a new recording.
I had a 3rd set in the rear facing backwards but the video quality was poor due to many factors.
I use mine basically for longer distance trips.

It actually can be reviewed over the Ring app live. So I can check in on my car and see the live view as long as it has an LTE signal.

It also sends you arerts live that an event is happening like a break in. When you are at home it joins the wifi and becomes another ring camera around the house and part of the alarm system. (Thats if you use the ring security stuff).

Ring is also notorious for folding in an instant and turning over footage to authorities quick, fast, and in a hurry. You think it's private but by agreeing to RING's TOS, it's not and you actually don't have a say in what they do with it. So it's definitely a two way street whether you think you are clever enough to hide it or not.

One of the many reasons you should run your own devices and record on your own.

We have no cameras that record to the cloud.
