I received a S/A RO Elite I0 mm as a Christmas present. Beautiful handgun, well finished really tight. However, it refused to reliably feed ammunition. About every 2nd or 3rd round would wedge halfway into the chamber and lock the slide. This RTB fail happened with Winchester and Sig ammo both, (FMJ rounds, with squared nose). I sent it back to Springfield 3 times, although the issue was never fixed. Springfield shot the weapon, but with other ammunition. Anyway, Springfield finally offered me a choice of new, replacement weapon, so I got the same model. The new one arrived, shoots like a dream, no malfunction with either the included magazines or with Wilson Combat 47X (9 rounds). This is a great firearm, great round, and Springfield has invariably been nice, responsive and quick to reply. BTW, Springfield bored out the chamber and smoothed the ramp but without success. The original gun simply would not work, and I almost failed annual qualifications because the weapon would malfunction multiple times every magazine. Luckily, we had enough ammo in the bag so I could reshoot with my wife's Glock .40 cal. I'm no gunsmith, but I suspect the issue may have been with an overlarge or misplaced extractor. Anyway, just my experience. Anything manufactured can have rejects. I highly recommend this weapon to anyone experienced, although the bite may be a little much for the newby or small person. This was my first Springfield and the company has been great. If you like a .45 ACP, you'll love this thing.
Edit: almost forgot...the original G10 grips are of the current style with lots of zigs and zags, and look really cool. All those sharp edges did tear my hand up more than a little though, so I replaced the factory grips with a nice (milder checkered pattern) set from Altamont. Grips like the original Colt pattern would work great too I suspect.
