I have the Range Officer Target 1911 with adjustable sights, but I would like to carry it, so can I replace the target sights for carry sights?
I so where can I buy them?

Begin with a general, model specific search to find companies that offer replacements. Get more in-depth with what appeals to you. I will personally recommend Truglo tritium night sights. Good luck.

Yes and no.

The RO target uses a different rear dovetail pattern than your typical carry, fixed sights…so you can’t use them.

However, there are some more robust adjustable out there designed for carry.

Contact @xdman more information—he also sells & installs sights.

Another possibility would be to set up another whole slide (or even a whole separate top end) with fixed sights for carry, and then put your original back on for range work.

Of course, this is coming from a guy who remembers the days when you could buy completely serviceable USGI slides for $25 all day long, and a "top end swap" isn't a big deal to a guy who knows his way around 1911s, so I realize this suggestion isn't gonna be for everyone. ;)

Easier (and possibly cheaper, considering having to fit the new slide to the frame & barrel if you’re not a DIY’er) to just buy a second 1911 for carry.

Or just slap the beefed-up adjustable a on the slide.

Agreed. In fact, "back in the day," when I discovered the drawbacks of my beloved state-of-the-art "combat conversion" 1911, I just built up a whole second gun (essentially, a modern SA Mil-Spec). Back then, brand-new Essex frames were only about $40, and IIRC a neighbor gave me the complete USGI Ithaca top end off his own 1911 (which he'd had accurized with a Drake slide in the '60s), just to get rid of it. Cheap is good. Cheaper is better. Free is best of all. Ah, good times! ;)

I have a RO Target as well and the Bomar sights are a pain to replace. I agree with the others, this looks like a great opportunity to grow your 1911 collection. We’re kind of in a golden age of 1911s right now and there are some very good 1911s out there that will not break the bank.
