Yes and no.I have the Range Officer Target 1911 with adjustable sights, but I would like to carry it, so can I replace the target sights for carry sights?
I so where can I buy them?
Easier (and possibly cheaper, considering having to fit the new slide to the frame & barrel if you’re not a DIY’er) to just buy a second 1911 for carry.Another possibility would be to set up another whole slide (or even a whole separate top end) with fixed sights for carry, and then put your original back on for range work.
Of course, this is coming from a guy who remembers the days when you could buy completely serviceable USGI slides for $25 all day long, and a "top end swap" isn't a big deal to a guy who knows his way around 1911s, so I realize this suggestion isn't gonna be for everyone.
Agreed. In fact, "back in the day," when I discovered the drawbacks of my beloved state-of-the-art "combat conversion" 1911, I just built up a whole second gun (essentially, a modern SA Mil-Spec). Back then, brand-new Essex frames were only about $40, and IIRC a neighbor gave me the complete USGI Ithaca top end off his own 1911 (which he'd had accurized with a Drake slide in the '60s), just to get rid of it. Cheap is good. Cheaper is better. Free is best of all. Ah, good times!Easier (and possibly cheaper, considering having to fit the new slide to the frame & barrel if you’re not a DIY’er) to just buy a second 1911 for carry.
Or just slap the beefed-up adjustable a on the slide.
