Interesting if dismaying… of course there could be more to the story - Mark Felton makes no mention of the impact of technology, for example.
But as an American, I can’t help but be disturbed by this. We all know who would have to take up the slack if UK found itself in a ‘bad situation’.

The UK military is a shell of it's former Cold-War era self, on land, seas & air.

But they built two large & unimpressive "so-called" "sort-of" aircraft carriers that spend more time in port than at seas, BUT the Brits build & maintain a decent nuke sub force with impressive SSNs (5 + 3 under construction) and SSBNs (4).

I think the RN should be able to defend the Irish Sea but beyond that they would need help from other parties.

Well, the Fleet Air Arm is memory as well, when they retired the Sea Harriers it went extinct, and the RAF moved in to its place.

I find it rather sad that Great Britain, which literally ruled the seas and controlled fully 1/4 of the worlds land mass has been reduced to the extremely small navy and army of today. Britain was always a bulwark of western civilization, and despite a couple disagreements 200+ years ago, has been our greatest ally. I hope to see Britain back where she belongs among the worlds powers.
