Ruger has announced before ShotShow the new Ruger 57 chambered in 5.7x28mm. I attached to links below (at least I hope I did and that they work), from Gunmagwarehouse and GunTalkMedia that describes and shows this new Ruger pistol.
What are your thoughts? Is this something you would purchase (either Ruger or other Gun manufacturer)? How plentiful and costly is the ammunition? Other thoughts? Discuss.

Cool concept from a great firearms company. Ruger seems to be pumping out a few cool affordable guns the past few years like the PC carbine takedown (one of my favorites to shoot). But without any hands on experience with a 5.7 gun I'm not particularly interested but I am curious myself.

The 5.7 x 28 is a great round. I've been interested in it for some time but have not follow through mostly due to cost.
The new Ruger has a decent price point. One may be in my future.

.22 plinkster does a really good review on YouTube of the Ruger 57. One of my most watched channels.

I love the round, but I am not sure what niche this pistol fills. I hope it is a success and leads to more ammo offerings. If it breathes new life into the round and generates some more interest and development I am all for it. But as for a gun, I don't like any of Rugers polymer framed guns to date, and doubt I would like this one.

Would like to see more light bolt-action rifles in 5.7 x 28, like when Savage came out with it in the M-25.

I have an AR-57 upper and it shoots nice albeit a bit bulkier than a PS90.

I saw an article about Ruger coming out with the 5.7. To be honest, I am not familiar with it. I would like to try it on for size, though.

I'm thinking about getting one when I saw that Ruger was coming out with one. Not sure y yet . maybe just to have a handgun in that caliber.

For ammo it's about 40 cents/round and reload is a bit of a challenge, because you will have too load as if you were making precision ammo. Hand measure powder 1 by 1 too keep pressures the same. It is very pressure sensitive!

My first reaction was the same as Alpha's....Have to get one and then I thought:
Not practical for concealed carry
Round is too hot for home defense gun
Why do I want to pay + 40 cents per round when I shoot it ?

Yes it is 'neat' but except for the fact that it is new, I can't see where it fits in my pistol inventory. If anyone has any comments on these considerations I would love to hear them.

See my comments below....Why is it a great round.....for what ??? I understand the flat trajectory and FPS and all that but what is the useful purpose for it.
