Ruger new 5.7 with a Safety

Howdy
I live in Southeast Texas in the country.

I have gotten Older. And I have several pistols to carry. I am a leukemia patient. So you can figure I'm a little show at things.

I do not trust the new trigger safety's on my springfield pistols to carry with a shell in the chamber.

I carry a XDS 45 or a XDm 3.8 Compact 45. Both combat triggers.

My main pistol is a Dan Wesson Guardian 45.

I have never owned a Ruger pistol. I have a SR762 rifle. Great rifle.

See they have come out with a new Ruger 5.7. pistol with a thumb safety. And is 18 to 20 rounds.
It showed the 5.7 has very little mussle rise.

Wished the barrel was a little shorter say 4 1/4" like my Dan Wesson Guardian.
I haven't had time to drive to a gun store to look at any weapons either.

I do not know lot about the 5.7 shell. And what it would be like to be pushed into shooting somebody with other people around. Does the 5.7 have stopping power like a 45. And can you get shells that won't go threw then and several other folks too.
I carry a IWBH from TT leather in. California cause I want the element of supprise.

Want a very reliable pistol with a thumb safety.

Has anybody looked at the new ruger. Shot it and what do you think about it

Thank you.

I've shot several FN FiveseveN pistols, and I’ve handled the new Ruger 57 (but not shot it).

They shoot very flat, with very little recoil. Terminal performance, though...leaves a lot to be desired. I know of several police agencies that adopted the big brother P90 submachinegun back in the day, and were very unimpressed with its stopping capability...usually taking long bursts of 10+ rounds to get a reliable stop (in fairness, they may have been using the LAP rounds...which we can’t buy).

At the end of the day, I’m not terribly impressed with the 5.7 cartridge. I think Armscor/RIA brought a better offering with their .22TCM cartridge based in the 1911 platform, but it never really caught on, and might be discontinued...

But that would be an option.

I agree
Have shot an FN 5.7 . Prefer my .45 1911 to the 5.7

thank you very much for your reply.

You shed more light on them for me.

Think I will just stay the 45.
Know it has grest stopping power.
