The Ruger SFAR, an AR 10-style rifle in 7.62×51, is about the size of an AR 15 in 5.56×45.

But I still want a SCAR...
As do I. My wallet screams NOFN way!
Two years ago at the local gun show one of the tables had a black scar308 that was very lightly used. The seller had it marked at $1600. I asked if I could pick it up, he agreed and said make me an offer I need it gone..... I trembling slowly backed away. I kick myself often for not making a offer.

I cringe when I read about these shortened actions in an AR-10 rifle specifically due to the issues I had with (2) Savage AR-10’s one a 6.5 and one a .308
Although I’m no expert I firmly believe the issues were caused by a timing problem so during cycling of the action while firing the guns the lugs on the BCG would contact the lugs on the chamber of the barrel causing significant damage to the lugs on the BCG
When I saw it happening on the 6.5 that gun was immediately sold however liking the .308 round I continued to shoot the .308 until the damage got so bad the lugs on the bolt started to crack.
The gun was returned to Savage for repair/BCG replacement and upon its return in less than 50 rounds the damage to the bolt started again.

That gun was traded in for my .308 M1A.

Now…. Am I saying that every AR-10 platform rifle from every manufacturer with the shortened action will have this issue? I honestly can’t and won’t say that, I will say that the Savage rifles were junk. My opinion.
