yeah, took my buddy for him to get in some practice with his G-43, and i took my above mentioned 1911.
we both did ok, but, but i was disappointed in my practice.
oh well, another day i suppose
anyway, got my 1911 home, field stripped it, and the pin for the barrel lug fell out..???
never had this happen before to any 1911 that i have.
this 1911 has at least 775 rounds, according to my log book
so some searching, and i "see" where i'll have to stake the pin into the "feet"? of the barrel.
to be honest here, after reading the procedure, i didn't even take notice if the pin had been staked in the first place, or was it pressed in.???
the pics online fully show a "indented" staking of the pin area. i'll find out later today.
now, it's gonna be another expensive saturday..grocery shopping, then off to a couple of auto supply stores, even Lowes for
pointed punches, and feeler gauges.
too bad as a former mechanic, i sold away nearly all that i had in tools, only to purchase things again, over the years....
well over $30,000 in tools i had amassed as a mechanic......had everything one could ever need......(decades ago of course, at that outlay of cash)
oh well....another day in paradise i suppose..........
anyone else have the barrel lug pin fall out..??
and what did you do...??
repair yourself, go to a gunsmith...???
