It's official, the Hornady 6mm GT, 6.8 True Velocity Composite, and .338 Weatherby Rebated Precision Magnum have been standardized.

The 6mm GT, left, seen next to another precision cartridge, the 6mm ARC. The 6mm GT easily attains more than 3,000 fps.

The 6.8 TVC is currently a contender for the Army's NGSW program and promises better ballistics than a .308 Win while having a lower overall cartridge weight due to its composite case.

The .308 version of this round was on the shelf at Bass Pro tonight and they wanted almost $70.00 for 20 rounds so that's a hard pass for me.

No neck on that 6.8TVC? Does that mean more free bore or requires a different type of chambering?
My guess is a conventional case neck can't be formed with the polymer, and/or isn't strong enough to be used as metals can be to support the bullet.

So, the bullet has to be semi-imbedded into the case.
