Didn't make to a museum role.

Does seem a terrible waste. And as always, Unc made a great deal selling 60,000 tons of steel for 1 cent🙄. Let me see here, a junk CAR will bring $200 for scrap…….you do the math (and yes I know it’s got to be moved and cut up, but still, a Penny?
Read the article; to scrap Enterprise, it’s going to run over $1B.

Yes, the scrapping company will make money on the deal…but probably not a killing.

ouch
i sailed on Kennedy during a hurricane evac of mayport
we only took 3 birds and 30 people,
ship was jsut us and the ships company
it was a blast for 2 weeks in the southern atlantic
when i was at mayport and kennedy arrived from refit it had a reputation as a floating brothel

any whooo
it takes big dollars to make one a museum and keep them safe for visitors

what strikes the heart of us sailors is seeing them empty, shackled to a pier awaiting thier fate
i pulled into Rhode Island and my former ship saratoga was shackled to a pier and she looked liked she was weeping and sad
kennedy looks the same, very sad...
lost of the crew, after so many years of service , the ghost of crew is all that remains
and yes they are haunted
saratoga had a lively bunch of ghosts and things

Ticonderogoa CV 14, Great ship great history. She served in WWII, and after being severely damaged returned to duty at the end of the war. She brought my father home from Okinawa at the end of the war sailing in San Francisco to a huge victory celebration. Converted to CVA 14 she completed 5 WesPacs during Vietnam. I was there for the 1969 cruise. Converted to a CVS 14 in Long Beach, CA 1970 and recovered 2 space capsuls before being scrapped. Sailors have a relationship with the ships they sail on and there is a sadness when they are scrapped. Kitty Hawk was my last ship and now gone with the rest.
