Saint Victor Melonite Finished

Hello, happy election day ladies and gents. I have a quick question. I am a firearm newbie. Just recently acquired saint victor b5 system. I havent fired the rifle. But i cant help noticing that the outside of the barrel finish is easily scratched (i scracthed it with just a plastic rod). I thought they melonited the barrel? Also the b5 grip is really like a sand paper. Thank you so much for your take in advance. Have a great day

Yes your AR has a Melonite finish but that doesn’t mean it’s totally scratch proof, many slight rub marks can be taken out with an oily cloth with some rubbing involved.

The barrel is most likely not scratched and what you maybe seeing is remnants of the material that was rubbed against it on the barrel.

Can you provide a picture of the scratch?

@Keystone19250 Thank you for your feedback. It was showing a bare metal. Didnt happen to my other ar. I didnt even scratch it with a metal. Maybe justbme being picky

@Keystone19250 @10mmLife thank you so much for your help. Its weird i just rub it with cotton swap and oil and i dont see the scratch anymore. I swear i saw the bare metal.

A lot of contacts will leave a rub mark on the gun and its usually the other surface coming off onto your gun.

The plastic rod didn’t scratch the barrel—the barrel scratched the plastic rod.
