Sale/Swap

Jumpinjoe.

Your answer will be NO.

Why would SA invite competition to their own sales and they surely will not want any negative PR associated with an event or deal gone sour.

It will be an open invitation to scammers and trolls looking to disrupt the forum and also like you mentioned the bad PR or potential lawsuits that could come from some psycho who bought something here and did something crazy could fall back on SA for hosting the forum.

There's plenty of online places to buy, sell, and trade already and I think not having that kinda stuff really separates this forum from the rest in a good way.

When someone gets screwed on eBay or any other site the first thing most people do is call or email the host site to complain or try and get recompensated and ultimately trying to hold the host site responsible in some way.

Makes sense!

Guys, I know there is potential for some bad issues, but I've been involved over many years in several forums going way back to when they were still called 'bulletin boards' ..... LOL! But this group, including the mads, for the most part is as level headed and responsible in general than any I've ever participated with.

Let's give SA and the mods here an opportunity to consider the idea and then decide. That's all I asked for ..... was a consideration of the idea. (y)(y)(y)

Agreed, most guys here are level headed. Am still not too sure on the chicken minded creatures though? :)
Deals between fellow members may be acceptable for most part. Have traded, bought and sold stuff between friends for years. Don't get rid of garbage onto anyone, is not a good way to keep good friends or make new ones. If either is unhappy then it's a poor deal. Trash belongs in trash. Salvageable and usable parts and items are different if stated upfront.

Possibly a 90 day period from time of enrollment before posting anything for sale, trade or freebies may help avoid and stop most of the fly by night carpet bagging and scams found elsewhere? Then posts rapidly deleted or posted sold once posted items are no longer available once deal is done. But, who knows? I'm no moderator or anyone in position to make those choices. It all depends on how things are done to me.

I just don't understand why there needs to be another place to buy stuff from considering there's already a ton of sources out there.

“When you put business between people they are no longer friends"

If members want to sell things why not do it on the sites that allow it?

Sometimes, but? Guess it depends on the deal? If it's a good deal and transaction, it's also a good way to make new friends if/when doing business transactions? I rarely if ever knowingly deal with any unscrupulous business or individual that's unliked for legitimate reasons.

This could be a good thing, but also a bad thing, like @10mmLife said, " When you put business between people they are no longer friends", I have seen this happen and it can get real ugly fast, plus the Mods would have to monitor it a lot to see if any issues arise, this could and will be very time consuming ordeal.

I could see it as a useful way for some of us to get rid of unused accessories to someone who will use them and at a good price. Almost every forum I’ve ever been on from Bass guitar to music to Beatles forums have some sort of marketplace. There are always clearly defined rules. Usually pointing out that the forum owners aren’t responsible for any “ Deals”. Banning sellers asking for PayPal gift, etc.

There’s way less chance of getting screwed on line here than there is on Craigslist or fleabay. We all kinda know each other.

Good points!

Personally? Am an okay seller and buyer, but don't ask to borrow out of sight. Am a terrible lender expecting to get things back in same condition lent or better. Would rather sell or give something away to someone who could use something than to lend. Dislike seeing things abused and mistreated. If not mine, still dislike it, but not my business either.

If there was a special catagory only higher level will only see and not newbies. Possibly no firearms only parts or accessories? That catagory will be hidden against prying eyes. Or just a trade type, but what kind of guarantee would there be? It would have to be more in person.
