Savage Arms Introduces Iconic 1911 Government Model Pistols

Unfortunately I did not have good luck with quality or reliability with my past Savage product purchases so……….

No thank you.
Never owned any Savage gun, but to be totally honest, I have had more issues with S&W over the years, recently a couple years ago I got one of there reintroduced model 66 with the 2-piece barrel, less then 50 rounds it went out of time, I took it to my gunsmith who at one time was a S&W warranty repair station, he fixed it, and don’t get me started in my 629 with the canted barrel which took 2 trips back to factory to get it right…😕

I like some of the styling on the slide and I like the look of a big beaver tail. I’d go for the stainless one, although I’m not a fan of the black engraving. Price though is a big question mark for me. There are other guns on the list at that price range before another 1911.

As stated above, price is a bit high for me, just going by the posted article & the pics they provided.
I’ll check their website though.

I notice it comes standard with ambi safety ( I usually don’t want that) and appears to have non-checkered front strap. Maybe i see some sort of grip lines?

Worth a look, but offhand I’m doubtful…

I have a pile of great Savage shotguns and rifles. Alas, the Savage from those days is not the Savage of today.

Also this isn't real inspiring.

“I’ve worked in the firearms Industry for over 30 years and started my career as a professional shooter,” said Rob Gates, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Savage Arms. “This Savage 1911 is as real as they come and shoots better than any production 1911 I’ve handled during my 30 plus years in this industry.”

He was a professional shooter and this is the best 1911 he's ever handled ? Really ?
