Savage Arms Shotguns: A Brief History

Great article on Savage @Annihilator, I’m not a big shotgun guy but reading about an over/under with one rifle barrel and one smooth bore for shotgun loads sounds interesting. I like my Savage AR10 in .308 and although my next long gun will probably be a lever gun I’ve been looking at big bore bolt guns as well.

Excellent article. I have one of each. Savage and Stevens 12 gauge double barrels and a Fox 20 gauge double barrel. All side by sides and all quail killers.

In the 70's Savage had their Model 330/333 O/U shotguns which were made my Valmet in Finland, and imported as Savages.

Mine are all pretty old. Now that I think of it I have a Savage single shot 20 gauge as well. It was my first shotgun. I would have been 8 or 9 and it was well used when I got it. My dad owned a gunstock finishing business back then and he made me a short stock. Hand rubbed oil finish though. It's all F'ed up now from brambles, just like all my bird guns. lol

Looks to me like Turkey is becoming a leading manufacturer of some quality firearms anymore
And they have beautiful wood however you need to be very careful working with wood from Europe as it is highly toxic from all the wars that have happened over the years and the process in manufacturing is very specialized to avoid exposing the employees to those toxins.
