Yeppers, several times now, but I’m back to my original one now
Do you remember any specific wording you may have used in that post - particularly any less commonly wording you may have used?
The problem with searching for "XD .45" is that it's not specific enough, likely due to the fact that it is too short. This isn't just a problem with this Forum's search function, but is a limitation of all Forums.
I also tried an Image search on Google:

The search does need some kind of upgrade or something, when you do get results with a search, the results have nothing to do with what you typed, even when it says it’s to short, you retype it and get the same, all well, no biggie,

@Annihilator - I also tried running the search using the following terms "**XD .45**" - with wildcards to extend the search parameters.
That pulled up quite a number of threads -

The problem with searches is that it's "crap in = crap out." So the more you can supply the search engine to drill-down with, the better your results. Go in too genera, and there's really not much that can be done other than to manually power through and look at each result you think may be valid.
So, going with that, I started hitting any result which may be what I'm looking for - in your case, that would be "a picture of my XD .45," ..... I ended up with this post:

Now, had you remembered the word "service" was used to describe your XD, as you wrote in that post, we'd have cut the search results down to only three pages, instead of the first search's nine pages.
But wait, there's more.....
Had you remembered that you had talked about your "injury" in that thread, that would have been the magic-mojo bingo search terms...

Really the problem with *ANY* search is that it's "crap in = crap out."
So the more you can supply the search engine to drill-down with, the better your results. It's not just this Forum - it's even Google, as you saw in my previous attempts. Go in too general, and there's really not much that can be done other than to manually power through and look at each result you think may be valid.
It's really about trying to be imaginative and as specific as possible with the search terms.
This is part of what I do for a living (academic research scientist, so I'm often digging through literature searches), so I get a lot of practice at it. Usually, the first couple of times I hit a search I get results that are too generalized: i.e. I fed it crap, so I'm getting crap thrown right back at me. But when I read through those earlier results, they'll usually give me hints on how I need to further refine. Usually by the third or fourth try, I actually start to really get somewhere.I was actually talking to my daughter the other day about back before Google....how we had specialized "Research Librarians" who sat at a desk and delved through specialized databases to help us with our research. To an extent, we kinda are, ourselves. nowadays.
I used to google search results from Apple.com when I worked for them as tech support. Their search engine, kinda like this one, required much more drilled down terms. It's a pain but if you google site:thearmorylife.com "XD" ".45" you'll get a much better search. Not sure what can be done about the Forum's search. We use forum software from a 3rd party and they control the algorithm.
