Setting Up Your AR For Home Defense

10.5" BCA 5.56 upper, no brace. PSA lower. Romeo 5 and Feyachi steel flip up BUIS plus a Viridian HS-1 green laser handstop. Magpul MS-1, single point configuration. 20 Rd. P mag. Magpul MOE K2 grip, Odin Works Enhanced LPK.

Custom Built 300 Blackout AR pistol w/ 8" barrel and PDW brace. Flashlight on one side, Flashlight/laser combo on the other. Magpul angle grip with MBUS flip up sights. UTG green/red optic. I'd like to eventually get a suppressor for it.

Very nice. I guess I could have included a pic, but compared to yours I would be embarrassed. :)
No need to be embarrassed Bob, especially since it will perform its intended purpose. I have some in the same configuration as yours (most though do have braces), this is just the one I have on the side of my bed (among others ;) ).

Here's my bedside keeper an Aero M4E1 .300BLK I currently have the mag topped off with 30 rounds of 240gr Cor-Bon subsonic ammo, Holosun 510c and a Rugged Razor suppressor attached to the muzzle just in case something goes bump in the night I can bump back quietly....🤫

Nice 10mm. I need to get me a suppressor like that for mine.
It's a lot easier now with the E-form process live. You can setup an account with Silencer shop to make the process really easy and have your suppressor approved in as little as 90 days. My last suppressor was filed through E-form and I took a little longer to get approved but I filed when they were still working the bugs out of the E-form system.

That's great! When can I expect your check so that I can pay for one? 🤑😂😂

The Rugged Obsidian 9 on my Scorpion can be used for 9mm (any velocity) and also .300BLK (subsonic ammo only) which makes this a pretty versatile option also.

The Scorpion is loaded with 35 rounds of 150gr Federal Synech subsonic.

I know you have a few Scorpions so I thought I'd share this info.

One thing I'll mention about a 5.56 AR for home defense is that no matter how you set it up, if you aren't wearing ear pro or using a suppressor you will go deaf after the first shot and you will have permanent hearing damage. Successive shots will only damage your hearing more. An enclosed CQB environment amplifies gunshots tremendously.

I tried an AR pistol (built one) but it didn't fit into my operational and area-condition needs.

Sold the upper & brace off and repurposed the lower to something more practical.

For home-defense I've found the PCC to best complement to a handgun.

Yup, I do have 2 scorpions, so thanks 10mm. You know I'm kidding with ya on this suppressor subject ;) . I appreciate the info, and may ask more questions when I get my financial house in better order. I did know you could use some suppressors for multiple caliber, but truthfully, when finances allow, I'd like to get one for some of the 30 cals I own, and one for my 9mm & 45 acp caliber firearms. The info you provided on the E-forms sounds like it will speed the process up immensely.
