Good review of 1911's and the Magazines that fit them. It also includes trouble shooting (Appendix 2) from Wilson Combat on their Mags (but may apply to others as well). There's even a shout out to our own Anni it appears :sneaky: (see excerpt for linked article):

"Longslide pistols date back to around 1980 with the first major commercial offering by AMT. These pistols typically have a 7″ barrel and a longer slide to match. Many other manufacturers have offered these types of 1911s over the years in small batches or as custom shop offerings. They are primarily intended for target shooting or hunting and are often too large to be carry concealed, unless you’re the Terminator."

Good article. Thanks!

The only point I saw that I disagree with is the Wilson Claim that their springs are the strongest. I recently got some new ones and I think they are weaker than the new Chip McCormick's that I have.

I've used the Chip McCormick power mags from about 10 yrs ago. They worked well but last year the springs must have finally went. They started nose diving about every round. I never tried the "lifetime warranty" as I've not had proff of purchase for yrs. Last year I bought a pair of the Wilson Vickers mags since they sent a 25% off coupon at Xmas. Those are very nice and pretty heavy duty. They use a thicker flat spring. I've heard they had some that broke springs after setting full for extended periods. So far I've had one loaded full to the rim eight rounds for a year still not broke lol.
they're kind of expensive at about $50 but I really like them and they remind me a lot of the original Chip McCormick power mags that I have as far as the tension of the spring so got that going for them.

All springs wear out with use, and extended periods of being loaded.

It's always good to have spare mag springs available when one senses that the springs are getting weaker.

Chrome-silicon springs have a longer life than standard springs, but cost a bit more.

No problem Talyn. And since Wilson Combat acquired Chip McCormick, I guess they can still say their springs are the strongest. 😄

According to the slew of test results on the internet I have read ( I know, the internet is always right, right? ) Springs do not wear out from sitting under tension. They wear out ( weaken) from loading and unloading. I hope I don't have to rethink this. I have S tons of spare mags for everything I own. All of them loaded.
