Hellcat
Due to my attraction to shiny new things, this poor little gun sat in my bedroom safe for many months. Some of you might remember I had an issue with it back in January and I had to send it to Springfield. I actually bought it back in November of last year and honestly, I don't know why it has taken me so long to shoot it. It came with a Hex Dragonfly, which my FFL guy installed for me.
Anyway, I pulled it out of the safe yesterday and it felt good in my hand. It's a bit bulkier than the VP9s and the little Masada, but it's doable. So, off to the range we went.
The Dragonfly needed to be zeroed in, and I thought it would be a little harder than the Holosuns were. The sights do not co-witness, so chasing the dot was fun but I got the hang of it. I was able to get the bench this time which was also helpful.
The first target, 6 shots at 25 yards, three at a time. The first three were touching the white circle and the third was the one in the 2 ring on the right. The next three, well, the first one was on the 2 ring...and that's when the fans kicked in. Lane 26 is the crappiest lane for fan interference. And it was probably me too.
I decided not to mess with adjustments yet because of the flapping target. I sent the second target down to 25 yards and tried again. I picked up on the cycles of the fan by this time, so I tried to press the trigger when the target settled some.
The first three hit the one ring, so I sent it out again, and again I had to time shots with the movement of the target. Not too bad, but at this point I decided I wasn't going to adjust the dot at all today. It was close enough for me at this time, but I am thinking I am going to take it to another range, one I used to belong to. It's not as kitted out as this one, but you staple targets to a cardboard back wall, so no flapping around.
I stood up and sent the next two targets out, and emptied the mags. By then I didn't much care about the flapping targets, just wanted to get a good feel for the gun.
All in all, I feel kind of bad for waiting so long to shoot this little gun. It came at a really good price, and I am very happy with it. It shoots well and is pretty accurate on its own. She will be getting more range time for sure.
