Shot Heard Around the World Nationwide Commemoration

I ran a search and didn’t see anything, so:

This April 19 marks 250 years since the fights at Lexington and Concord, and the famous shot.

The California Rifle & Pistol Association is organizing a synchronized “Shot Heard Around the World” at various ranges throughout the state. The shots will be fired April 19 at 8:30am, the time THE shot is believed to have been fired.

This has now spread to at least Utah and Wyoming. The Ohio state association posted it on their website yesterday but I didn’t see anything about a coordinated effort.

The Wyoming organizers would like to see this go nationwide. So do I.

The trick is coordination due to the different time zones. People in CA aren’t going to do this in the middle of their night in order to coincide with 8:30am at Lexington and Concord. Likewise, the Massachusetts people won’t like waiting however many hours after 8:30am to accommodate CA people.

They think it might have to be done according to your time zone. That’s unfortunate, but I know it’s by far the easiest way.

If this takes off around here, I want to push for my club’s board to let me open it up to the public that day to give people a safe place to participate.

The CA R&P Association article:

Article at the (Wyoming) Cowboy State Daily:

Ohio state association:

If I see more states doing this, I’ll post it here. Please do the same.

Hi,

I love the idea. However, my range doesn't open until 10am on Saturdays. ;) But I'll pass this along and suggest special commemoration hours to the owners. They're always having special events, so who knows? :)

Thank you for your indulgence,

BassCliff

I see the NRA has an event scheduled for April 19th.
Maybe they can have an 8:30AM first shot ceremony :)
