Two shots into the intruder.
Perp was in the basement. Shot once.
Came up the stairs and shot again. Said “you’ll have to kill me first”
Still struggled with police and will be charged.
Should be at the coroners office. Homeowner should have obliged perps statement

Shot placement and training with a firearm matter.

I was just talking about this with my wife. She was surprised the perp didn’t die with one shot (she does not shoot). Hence, the reasoning for shooting till the treat is stopped.
I showed her the pic of the perp and told her we’d be toast if he busted in here. but at least we have a chance since i’m armed and that’s why i hit the range at least once a week. Well, that and because it’s fun.

Did he stop the threat?

Yes. Neither he nor his family were attacked/injured.

Don’t we ALL SAY that we SHOOT TO STOP, not shoot to kill?

I’d say he did just fine.
Yes but possibly no. It depends on where he was aiming. He might have just gotten lucky. At that distance you’d like to think you would be accurate enough to make a center mass shot. Of course with adrenaline and probably a serious lack of training who knows.

Adrenaline is a two way street; he may have had solid torso hits, but didn’t hit anything vital, and the Bad Guy had enough adrenaline/other chemicals working that he was only temporarily affected by the gunshot.

Sounds like he took his first shot, the attack was broken off, he retreated, and then was attacked a second time, firing a second time, and ended that attack.

This was a good stop.

Until the liberal DA lets them off with an easy sentence and he comes back cause he knows where/who shot him
Except that’s not a defense; you’re not prescient, you cannot prove that it will happen…and no decent attorney would allow you to try and use it, as a prosecutor would shred you to pieces.

Only what is happening right there, right then in the moment matters.
