Shotgun Home Defense

no buckshotn for me. I bad guy can ER and get sewed up from a .32 cal pellet. I use BB shot, there is no sewing up hamburger meat.
I like the idea of BB shot (I wouldn’t go smaller), but I don’t like they pretty much only come in 3” magnum loads.

Personally, my “repel boarders!” shotguns are loaded with low-recoil #4 buckshot. A lot more of those .25 pellets in the column, but still heavy enough to guarantee penetration to vitals at a bad angle, or through an arm.

I have always advocated for #4 buck for home defense. Now if you live out in the country and don't have any close neighbors you might want a side saddle with heavier loads .

When I lived in the country with no neighbors, my HD long arm was a .308... ;)

I take it you have no kids in the house.

No. It was loaded with 00B when she was still at home too though. My house is laid out pretty intelligently. Her bedroom was in the back. No exit/ entrance and no reason to ever shoot that direction.
