Should officers carry snake shot?

I would think a shotgun at close range loaded with just about any type of shot would do the trick. The article doesn't say what he shot the snake with, but I would guess he used a pump shotgun loaded with Federal 00B.

Not sure how much use it would be in an emergency if it was left in a vehicle. So it would be added to thier loadout i imagine. From what I have seen or heard officers loadouts are heavy enough as it is. Adding a different type of ammunition for a situation you might encounter once in a career seems excessive.

Like Bob said leave it to the shotgun.

Man, if I was LEO I would be toting the ol' shotgun in any situation it made sense in. Going to a home where there has been a disturbance or domestic dispute for sure. Pretty much anytime I didn't need to be moving quickly, like running or didn't need to keep a low profile.

Handguns are good and fine, but I'll take the shotgun if I can. I mean it isn't like I don't have a holstered pistol should I need to engage outside the range of the shotgun. I would probably have a slug or two in the shotgun card just in case though.

Eh, I'm not a police officer so I am probably overlooking some things. Maybe legal things or department regs or something. It's probably a good thing I'm not LEO. I would certainly be highly motivated to protect the innocent, but I would also be very prone to kicking the shite out of the guilty. Maybe I was just born 5 decades too late.

I was taught in a police academy 5 decades ago that the shotgun is my primary weapon and my revolver was for those times I didn't have time to get the shotgun out. Department policy may dictate

Classic example that some animals shouldn’t be kept as pets.
Saving a human life is paramount but killing something that is just doing what it does to survive is sad.
A majority of (constrictor) snakes are not poisonous but will still bite, cover the head so they can’t see
“they will relax” and unwrap them from their pray.

Machete.....
you called...??

In the twisted liberal world the argument is;
“…yeah, but the snake was unarmed and they weren’t herpetologists”.
