Should You Lighten a Recoil Spring on a 1911

Nice read on if you should lighten a recoil spring on a 1911 personally, I always use a 18 1/2 pound variable rate spring, when I replace one, also it refers to the Wilson Shock Buff.

 
My son a few years ago purchased a STI 9mm Commander length that on initial range trip wouldn't cycle lots FTF-he brought the pistol over and we broke it down to find a Wilson Shock Buff in a Commander 9mm-took the buff out and the next time he went to the range all the feeding problems quit.
So I am really not a fan of the buffer.

Yea, I was told not to put them in any but a full size 1911, they will cause issues in the commanders like you said.
